The Facebook Sacrifice Bunt

A sacrifice bunt isn't exciting, but World Series have been won because of them.

For many real estate agents (or anyone in sales), they swing for the fences with every post they make. And since it's only one or two a week, they feel pressure to hit them "over the fence" every time.

In baseball, players that swing for the fences every at bat rarely have long careers. They tend to be one hit wonders. Surely that isn't what you and I want to be said about us. So, let's change our thinking in 2017. More than that, let's change our EXECUTION in 2017.

Here is how Facebook works...when you post something, typically only 1% - 2% of your friends will see it. If you have 1000 friends, that's only 10-20 people. This means you need to do three things....

#1 - Post more often!

Posting two to three times a week won't do much for you. It might help you sleep better at night because you think you are doing a good job on social media. But considering you're only engaging 30-60 people a week (if you have 1000 friends), very little will come from it.

“What if the only thing standing in the way of your greatness was that you just had to go after everything obsessively, persistently, and as though your life depended on it?”

Grant Cardone said that.

#2 - Increase Engagement!

The more likes, comments, and shares you get, the longer Facebook keeps it at the top of your friend's news feed. Because you now know this, get creative with what you post. Ask questions, run polls, be inspirational, be informative, use posts from your personal life, and then, talk about business in a way that's not boring and predictable. When these things happen, engagement always follows! Then you quickly become someone worth following.

#3 - Sacrifice bunt to score!

Have you ever noticed that a lot of the same people like your posts? That is because Facebook knows who regularly engages with you, so those people will see the majority of them naturally. A sacrifice bunt looks like this…

I changed my profile picture, not just because my son is the best looking 4 yr old on the planet! But because I'm laying down a "sacrifice bunt." A lot of my posts get anywhere from 10-40 likes, but this one is over 220 likes and counting. Why does this matter? Friends will like this photo that don't regularly like my other posts. So by getting them to engage with my updated profile pic, they are now more likely to see my next few posts. So I'm "sacrificing" this post to hopefully hit an RBI double with the next!

You need to use "sacrifice" posts on a regular basis in order to engage those that don't engage most of the time. It's a family photo, a post about a popular sports team, an inspirational quote, a funny meme or video, the options are endless! Mix those in and watch all of your posts get a huge increase in engagement! And with more engagement comes more leads!

Social media is the most untapped option for you to grow your business. Don't be good enough...10x it and be the best! If you do, in 2017, you might open up a whole new way for you to lead generate, and it didn't cost you anything.
